Because childhood isn’t meant to be posed.
The Moment I Let Go of Posing, Everything Changed
There’s a quiet, revolutionary truth that has shaped both my parenting and my photography: Children don’t need to be told how to be.
They already are.
As a mother who unschooled my youngest daughter and walked the winding path of child-led, self-directed education, I learned something essential:When we give kids space to be themselves, they show us who they truly are.
And I carry this same truth into every family session I photograph.
What Is Child-Led, Self-Directed Photography?
Child-led photography means your child is free to:
Lead the energy of the session
Move how they want
Explore what draws them in
Be silly, quiet, intense, curious, wild, soft, or strong—without correction or redirection
There are no instructions. No forced smiles. No “say cheese.”
This is a space where your child gets to be fully seen as they are, in all their beautiful, raw, evolving energy.
Unschooling Taught Me to Trust the Process—and Your Children
Unschooling isn’t just about education—it’s about trust. Trust in the natural curiosity and wisdom of children.Trust in their internal rhythm.Trust that who they are is already enough.
I bring that same trust to every session.I don’t need to control your child to create meaningful images.
I simply observe. I follow. I listen. I respond.
This approach creates imagery that’s emotionally honest, timeless, and deeply rooted in who your child truly is—not who the world expects them to be.
Why This Matters So Much More Than a Perfect Picture
Traditional family photos often focus on perfection. Matching outfits. Carefully planned poses. Everyone looking at the camera.
But what if your photos could tell the truth instead?
The truth of how your child laughs when they’re free.
The way they run barefoot through the grass.
Their quiet thinking face.
The messy hair.
The little tantrum.
The big feelings.
The light in their eyes.
That’s what matters years from now.
That’s what will make you feel somethign when you look back.
The Parents Who Book Me Want More Than Pretty Photos
The families I work with don’t want staged images. They want meaning. They want connection. They value presence over performance. They want their children to feel seen—not shaped.
And often, they’re parents who are already living outside the box:
Unschoolers and gentle parents
Conscious mothers and reflective dads
Women who are evolving, simplifying, and choosing wholeness over perfection
They’re not trying to curate a moment. They’re trying to live it.
Your Photos Should Feel Like a Memory, Not a Performance
When we allow children to lead, something beautiful happens: They invite us to slow down, be present, and see them through new eyes.
And when I photograph from this place of deep trust, the result is more than just photos. It’s a visual love letter to your child’s truest self.

“I just want them to be themselves.”
“I don’t want stiff, posed photos.”
“I want to remember them as they really are.”
"I want to feel something when I look at these images"

Let’s create something that reflects the soul of your family. Let’s capture the wild, wonderful, real-life childhood your kids are living—on their terms.
