Booking a professional photographer is an investment.
It's an investment of your time and your money, and I don't take that responsibility lightly.
I want you to connect with my work.
I want you to feel seen and understood.
I want you to enjoy your experience with me and I want you to love your images.
It's also important to know what it's like to work with me before you ever book your session.
I've put this quick read, and I’ll keep it casual.
Let's get started...
Minimal Gear, Maximum Impact
I’m a bit of a minimalist when it comes to gear. I don’t lug around a ton of equipment because I believe in letting the moment shine through without all the fuss. My approach is simple: I primarily use natural light to create a mood that’s authentic to your environment. Whether we're in your cozy living room, or exploring a local spot, I let the surroundings speak for themselves.
Natural Light, Natural Moments
Speaking of natural light...there’s something magical about how it can transform a scene—adding warmth, depth, and emotion. I don’t rely on artificial lighting often (the occassional fill-flash when needed indoors) or staged setups; instead, I let the light guide the session. When booking an outdoor lifestyle session, it's important to know that these are scheduled about an hour before sunset. At this time of day, the lighting is softer and most flattering for outdoor portraits.
Child-Led Sessions:
Let’s talk about the kiddos for a moment. If you worry about your little ones not cooperating, it's understandable. Children can be unpredictable at times which is why I follow a child-led approach—I follow their lead, letting them be themselves, which often leads to the most meaningful moments. The best part--they actively participate and actually enjoy the session experience. No stiff poses, no forced smiles—just pure, unfiltered fun and curiosity. I don’t use props or try to overly pose because I believe their natural movements and expressions are more than enough to tell your family’s story.
On-Location Flexibility: Your Place or Mine?
When it comes to location, the choice is all yours. Whether it’s your home, a special family spot, or somewhere local in or around Norwood, NC--I'm happy to shoot on a location that is meaningful to you. If you prefer suggestions, I'm happy to offer recommendations.
Here are a few local favorites:
Comfort Matters: Especially for Camera-Shy People
There are many people who aren't thrilled about being in front of the camera. I get it. I feel that way too. And because I understand that feeling, I respect it, I honor it and I make it my priority to create a comfortable expereince for you. I’m not here to force anything; instead, I strive to capture natural, relaxed interactions. We'll get there--I promise.
Wrapping It Up
Ultimately, my job is to capture your family’s unique story in a way that feels true to you. I’m not about the cookie-cutter approach—I’m here to document real moments that you’ll treasure for years to come. So, if you’re ready to create something beautiful together, I’m just a message away...
Thanks so much for considering me as your child-led lifestyle and family documentary photographer. I can’t wait to work with you and create some magic 📷✨
