The morning I met Stacy Johnson Shook for Addie’s 1st Birthday shoot, the sun was still low in the horizon and the dew was still moist and glistening in the grass. A magical moment for any photographer and Addie was eager to explore her new surroundings!
The First Birthday marks a significant milestone—one of many firsts and lasts to come. From her first breathe, to her first (cup)Cake Smash and some very special moments in between, I’ve had the opportunity to watch this darling girl grow. Now, she stands strong and proud; her personality is emerging and her expressions are exceedingly delightful. And for such a small, endearing soul, her laughter is grand—its sound ignites laughter from those fortunate enough to hear it and the words of J.M Barrie (Peter Pan) come to mind:
“When the first baby laughed for the first time, its laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies.”
Yes, her laugh broke into many pieces, and each of us laughed along with her. And though “Addie” in ONEderland is her birthday theme this year, I couldn’t help but think of fairies too.
